Sponsor a Horse

Equine Partnership Program currently has eight therapy horses on "staff" to serve as our co-therapists and coaches for our clients. Although they don't ask for raises, we still have to pay their salary in the form of shelter, food, and their vet visits. (It's a pretty good trade off, if you ask us!) Additionally, EPP is committed to rescuing and rehabilitating two horses in 2016. Our horses are the backbone of our mission and we hope you will consider a donation. Sponsorships make great gifts to celebrate birthdays, holidays, and other special occasions-- and we can mail a packet directly to the recipient of your choice.

Equine Partnership Program conducted over 600 individual therapy sessions in 2015. With two more on staff in 2016, we are looking to provide at least 1,200 sessions to those in need. EPP covers a minimum of 38% of the costs to provide equine assisted therapy. These scholarships are the largest financial requirement for EPP in 2016. With your help, we can make a big impact in the lives of children in our community.

Volunteer

Volunteer

Volunteers are absolutely vital to our program, as they not only provide safety to the riders (who often don’t have the balance required to ride alone safely) but are an extension of the therapist during sessions. We are looking for volunteers who would like to be horse leaders and side walkers for 60-minute physical therapy sessions. Each therapy session requires a minimum of two volunteers, so bring a friend and have fun doing good for our community!

Hi, my name is Anna James, and I am a student at George Washington High School in Denver, CO. I am in the International Baccalaureate program and as a part of the program, during our senior year, we each create a project to help the community. I have chosen to work with the Equine Partnership Program to help them raise the funds to purchase a truck that will help transport the horses and equipment. Having a truck to be able to transport horses is incredibly important to this organization. Hiring a commercial transport company to move horses is cost prohibitive and they aren’t always able to come out at a moment’s notice. Two of the equine therapy horses are senior horses– Jubee turns 30 this year! Being able to immediately get him to a vet if an emergency arises is crucial to the horse’s welfare. Additionally, being able to take horses out in the community to show the amazing work of equine therapy for mental and physical healing would be an added benefit to the program and the community. When it came time to find a cause I wanted to help for my senior project, I couldn’t think of a better cause to serve. I hope you will all join me in raising the funds for this truck and fulfilling a need of a wonderful organization. Thank you!

We have seen again and again the impact horses have on people who have a hard time placing trust in others, opening up, or regulating their emotions. That’s why we are committed to equine-assisted therapy as the method to help our clients on their personal journey toward healing. With that commitment, however, comes an influx of costs. Instead of an office, we must have land, facilities, feed, and staff to care for and keep our horses happy and healthy. Each therapy horse costs approximately $500 a month. That cost is completely run on philanthropic dollars from donors like you who see the need and the benefit of equine assisted therapy. We hope you will sponsor a horse– whether for a day ($17), a month ($500), or a year ($6,000).  Our therapy horses are the backbone of our organization and we love them as family. We hope you open your hearts to love them, too!

Equine Partnership Program supplements between 63% – 100% of the costs for all therapy sessions for our clients. We believe that mental health and physical therapy should be available to anyone who needs it, regardless of ability to pay. In 2015, EPP raised the money to supplement over 600 therapy sessions ($27,000! Our donors are amazing!) and we are looking to double that number in 2016 with your help. Any amount— big or small — makes a huge difference for our clients and their families.

Matt and Jubee’s Story

Matt and Jubee’s Story

One of the most impactful stories of how horses can reach through to children in times of severe depression is the story of Matt and Jubee. Matt had just turned 16. Tall and lanky with dirty blonde hair (and the hint of facial hair that he was exceedingly proud of), Matt was your average teenage […]

“I tried everything with Alex to get to the bottom of his behavioral issues. Finally, our previous therapist recommended Lee and Equine Partnership Program. I was skeptical at first, but have become a true believer in these horses. Alex’s mood has improved significantly and the way he looks at the world is brighter. I feel like I’m getting my son back. Thank you.”
