Four children die each day because of abuse or neglect. More than three million cases of child abuse go recorded each year in this country. Nearly three times that amount go unreported. According to data from the National Child Abuse and Neglect Data System (NCANDS), 50 States reported a total of 1,484 fatalities. In 2013, an estimated 1,520 children died from abuse and neglect. This translates to a rate of 2.04 children per 100,000 children in the general population and an average of four children dying every day from abuse or neglect.

In the State of Colorado, over 3,000 investigations have been conducted in the last six months regarding animal neglect and cruelty. Many of these involved horses. Equine Partnership Program works with horses who have been victims of neglect and cruelty. The horses are our working partners. They play a primary role in teaching our clients the new ways of approaching issues that will positively impact every aspect of their lives. Reciprocally, our clients are our partners in healing these neglected horses that have been traumatized and rehabilitating them for eventual adoption.
